Laboratory Theater of Ciputat (LTC) was established in 2005, initiated by theater activists operating in the Ciputat area of South Tangerang. LTC focuses on achieving artistic works that are accessible to various layers of society. We consider art as a medium that can bridge diverse interests within a particular community. We organized library and field research activities to strengthen the ideal objectives of the first two missions.
Based on these three missions, LTC's creative process is derived from workshops, discussions, research, observations, collaborations, and live-in experiences that focus on the issues, themes, and problems of urban society, as well as its spiritual aspects. These activities are carried out with an interdisciplinary approach to knowledge and skills. LTC has formulated training methods based on creative experiences that can enrich the working approaches within a social community.
Various parties that have contributed to LTC's artistic processes include: Yayasan Kelola, Japan Foundation, Hivos, Kirari Fujimi Art Center, Djarum Foundation, Jakarta Arts Council, Directorate of Arts of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Directorate II of Budget of the Ministry of Finance, National Commission on Violence Against Women (Komnas Perempuan), Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (Kontras), US Embassy, Islamic Guidance of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Youth and Sports, SCOT, Budi Luhur University, Tokyo Art Council, JakArt, Bentara Budaya Jakarta.
